Description
Reed Sensor
The reed sensor is a pair of electrical contacts that create a closed circuit when a magnet is in range and an open circuit when not.
Reed sensors when combined with a media player can therefore be used to activate content in bespoke ways.
10mm Distance to Trigger
The Reed Sensor has a trigger distance of 10mm (1cm) for tightly enclosed spaces/designs. When it detects a magnet within this range, it sends what is the equivalent of a button trigger to your audio or video player, such as the SoundClip and VideoClip-HD.
With or Without Mounting Plate
The Reed Sensor is mounted through a surface, you can purchase the sensor and magnet on its own or with a mounting plate attached to both for easier installation into your chosen surface.
SoundClip, VideoClip or Own Device
The Reed Sensor has been developed specifically for use with our range of products and is supplied with bare ends.
When used with a SoundClip or VideoClip you simply connect the bare ends to the green terminal connections supplied with those products.
Check with the manufacturer regarding compatibility and installation if using your own device.
Get Creative!
Here is an example of how we utilised the Reed Sensor at the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton. We installed 7 sensors into a bespoke wheel unit connected to a VideoClip. Turning said wheel then activated video on the large screen above.
